UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Police said a fatal crash near the Brookville-Sigel Exit on I-80 Monday happened when 23-year-old Urania Soria veered off the road.

Police said Soria, her 5-year-old passenger and another man, Otilio Perez, were killed in the collisions that followed.

All three were from Ohio.

Police said Soria's vehicle was traveling east in the left lane of I-80, crossed the grass median, and spun clockwise about 90 degrees. Her vehicle hit two others.

The accident happened just before 6:30 p.m. Monday in Union Township at mile marker 75.

I-80 was shut down from the Brookville-Sigel Exit to Corsica for six and a half hours.

Five miles worth of drivers were stranded.

Director of Jefferson county emergency services, Tracy Zents, said two small communities; Brookville and Corsica, took action to help those in need.

"When something tragic like this happens, they all come together and help out and that's a good feeling," Zents said.

Over 20 different agencies and businesses teamed up to help the victims, first responders and drivers that were stopped.

Strattenville, Hawthorn, Summerville, Corsica, Sigel, Pine Creek and Brookville fire departments, Clarion Hospital EMS, PennDot, Jefferson county coroner, medial helicopter, Jefferson county 911 center, DUSAN, DuBois state police, JCEMS 90, JCEMS 50, RedCross, Crisis intervention team, and Brookville PD contributed.

Food was donated from Get-Go, Subway and Sheetz in Brookville.

CG: Heather Alger/Acting Manager, Sheetz #66 Ha "The shift supervisor asked if we were able to do a donation and we said absolutely," Heather Alger, acting manager of Sheetz #66, said. "We donated 40 hot dogs with condiment, napkins and two cases of water."

Counselors were on scene Monday night for anyone who needed a listening ear. More counseling sessions will be available in the near future.

"Counselors were there in case any of our first responders, state police or anybody that was involved with the actual scene needed someone to talk too," Zents said. "It started the healing process right then."

Police said the investigation of what caused Soria to leave her lane is still in the early stages.

They said all tires were in good condition. Given the extent of the damage to her car, they don't believe they'll be able to use what's left to figure it out.

Police are asking anyone that may have witnessed the collision to contact State police in DuBois at 814-371-4652.
