
BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — A Butler County man and a child were pronounced dead after the result of a vehicle accident in Winfield Township Friday evening, state police said.
According to a press release, David Faulx, 65, and a 12-year-old boy were driving north on Winfield Road just before 10 p.m. and were approaching a sharp right curve.
State police said a truck was traveling in the opposite lane of travel approaching the same curve.
The press release states that Faulx approached the curve at a high rate of speed, causing him to exit his lane of travel and go into the opposite lane.
According to state police, Faulx hit the truck head-on, causing his vehicle to flip upside down at the roadside.
The press release states that Faulx and the child were pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.
State police said the child was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, but Faulx was not wearing one.
