CLEARFIELD - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Clearfield County DUI Task Force, local law enforcement agencies and pizza shops are encouraging safe and sober driving this Super Bowl weekend.

One way they're spreading the message is with designated driving reminders on pizza boxes and take-out items to compliment the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's campaign message, "Fans Don't Let Fans Drive Drunk."

The participating restaurants are Scotto's Pizza and Mabel's Pizza Shop in Clearfield, as well as M&M Scotto's Pizzeria in DuBois.

"We feel that because we do deliver, we're able to bring a message to our customers and even people that come pick up," Owner Tony Scotto said.

State and local police said they'll be increasing patrols all weekend, targeting high-traffic areas.

"It's not about how many arrests we make or how much money we make," Clearfield County DUI Coordinator Nathan Curry said. "It's about how many lives we save and how many people that we deter from getting behind the wheel of the vehicle."

Scotto's Pizza and M&M Scotto's Pizzeria will have a two large, two-topping pizzas special on Sunday for $20 to help more people see the message.
